Caves House name mooooved on to make way for the Cows!

Historic Caves House Hotel in Yallingup has been overrun by a herd of colourful bovines and as a result, its management has been forced to give the grand old lady of the South West the first name change in its 60-year history.

WA artists Emma Blyth and Kylie Porter-Rath changed the welcome sign at Caves House to Cow’s House this week and this will remain for the duration of the much-anticipated CowParade Margaret River.

Emma and Kylie were on hand at Caves House for the arrival of their painted cows, which will be on display at Caves House from 1 March to 27 June 2010.

Their cows each feature stunning West Australian imagery. Our Great Kimberley, painted by Emma, drew inspiration from the unique colours, remoteness and wildlife of the WA outback. Kylie’s cow, Lashbrook, features the summer landscape of the WA Wheatbelt complete with red flowering gums and Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo.

Our Great Kimberley and Lashbrook are two of 80 life-size cows on display throughout the Margaret River region from Monday 1 March.

Now that their beautiful cows are complete, Emma and Kylie are preparing for Sun, Dirt & Sea – an exhibition of their current works – which will be on display at Caves House from 6 to 21 March 2010 as part of the CowParade Margaret River events calendar. The exhibition will feature iconic Australian landscapes and wildlife on canvas.

Emma and Kylie both have long associations with Seashells as their works are hung throughout Seashells properties in Mandurah, Scarborough and Broome.

Caves House and the adjacent Seashells Yallingup are proud accommodation partners of CowParade Margaret River.
