Christmas joy from Seashells

Over the Christmas period Seashells was proud to spread some festive joy and support events throughout the community.

Operation Santa, an initiative from UnitingCare West and Target stores throughout WA, helped produce hampers and gifts for needy homes with the support of the Uniting Church schools, congregations, donors and volunteers in December 2012. Seashells was more than happy to contribute to the 2012 appeal. For more information on Operation Santa and UnitingCare West’s other projects visit the website.

Also over Christmas, Seashells Mandurah was involved with the Mandurah Community Christmas Pageant & Celebrations held on Tuesday 11 December 2012. We sponsored the Albany Woolly Bush with trees being donated and planted at five local schools, the Peel Hospital and in local reserves. The celebrations were held along Mandurah’s Eastern Foreshore, and featured festive floats, a visit from Santa and fireworks to conclude the night.

Ivan Shaw and his exhibition 'The Most Westerly Point'

The Most Westerly Point – art exhibition by Ivan Shaw

Seashells is excited to be supporting Ivan Shaw’s new art exhibition, The Most Westerly Point, on the lawn in front of Seashells Yallingup on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 December, and Thursday 27 and Friday 28 December.

For his first solo exhibition Ivan chose to step away from fashion and explore the patterns and beauty of the pristine Shark Bay World Heritage Area. With 21 limited edition aerial images Ivan has captured a perspective of the region that few have seen.

Ivan’s time in the sky had to be executed to perfection and after two years in the planning process, the abstract images unquestionably succeed in reflecting the raw beauty of the region. Taken from 4000 feet, Ivan achieved the birds-eye-view vantage point by leaning out of a door-less Cessna plane that was hired for the project!

The exhibition launched in Perth in December and will also be travelling interstate and overseas in 2013.

For more information visit www.ivan-shaw.com.
