A Seashells Winter Road Trip
Winter along the West Australian coast has its own kind of magic. Think crisp mornings, uncrowded beaches, and the freedom to take the day as it comes.
It’s the ideal time to slow things down, settle into a true home away from home, and take a drive along the coast. If you’re ready for a change of pace, we’ve mapped out a three-stop winter escape – starting with Scarborough, winding through Mandurah, and finishing in Yallingup.

Scarborough
Scarborough in winter feels different – in the best way. The summer crowds soften, the ocean turns deep and moody, and the foreshore becomes a place to wander rather than rush.
Base yourself at Seashells Scarborough, just steps from the shoreline, with spacious, self-contained apartments designed for easy coastal living. Mornings are made for grabbing a coffee from Little Wave and heading out for a long beach walk, while afternoons invite a sauna session at Alchemy Saunas or a long lunch at Brighton Wine Bar. And come Saturday, the Scarborough Sunset Markets continue through winter – offering street food, local makers, and acoustic music and entertainment.

Mandurah
Your next stop is Mandurah, where calm waterways and easy days go hand in hand. It’s a good place to get out on the water, wander the boardwalk, or spend a few unhurried hours around Dolphin Quay and the marina precinct.
Settle into Seashells Mandurah, where the ocean is on your doorstep. Beyond the water, Mandurah is full of scenic finds and local favourites. Spend the day exploring Thomas Dambo’s larger-than-life wooden sculptures, known as the Giants of Mandurah, or duck inside for a rainy-day visit to Boundary Island Brewing or All Malt Brewing. Travelling with kids? Make a splash at the Mandurah Aquatic & Recreation Centre or catch a show at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.

Yallingup
Your final stop is Yallingup, and it’s well worth the drive. Winter is a great time to head south, with dramatic scenery, cellar doors and quieter days that make the trip feel like a proper escape.
At Seashells Yallingup, spacious apartments and wide balconies overlooking the Caves House heritage gardens give you plenty of room to unwind. From here, it’s an easy walk to Yallingup Beach, where you can take in incredible shoreline views, or head further out to explore the dramatic boardwalk at Canal Rocks. Spend a morning underground at Ngilgi Cave, with its Ancient Lands Experience making it a great outing for the whole family, then keep the day going with whale watching from the coast or a drive to Dunsborough for a Naturaliste Charters tour. Nearby cellar doors like Aravina Estate and Swings & Roundabouts make it easy to settle in for a relaxed winter tasting, with good food, welcoming spaces and options that keep the kids occupied too.
Why wait for summer? The WA coast is calling, and our spacious apartments are the perfect base for your winter retreat. Whether you’re staying for a night or settling in for longer, we’re ready to welcome you.
